Adam Nordell + Johanna Davis: PFAS Contamination + Organic

Johanna Davis and Adam Nordell built Songbird Farm in Maine with the dream of growing nutrient-dense food for their community. After more than a decade of hard work, they discovered their land, water, and bodies were contaminated with PFAS – toxic “forever chemicals” spread decades earlier as sewage sludge billed as fertilizer. Their story is one of heartbreak, betrayal, and resilience, but also a call to action: to protect farmers, eaters, and the soil we all depend on from systemic chemical pollution.
